In Hitler's Samurai: The Waffen-SS in action, Bruce Quarrie tried rather pathetically in a few paragraphs to compare the Waffen-SS to Samurai. Interestingly, a book later he avoids making any historical comparison between knights of the Teutonic Order and SS panzer divisions.
